1983 UCT Sixteen adolescent cancer patients undergoing
a variety of invasive procedures underwent
hypnosis. Patients achieved significant reductions
in measures of pain and distress after hypnosis
training. Anticipatory anxiety was observed
to increase prior to hypnotic treatment.
Two patients rejected hypnosis.
