Percentage abstinent with and without dropouts
Table 2 presents the percentage abstinent at posttreatment and at the follow-up pe-
riods. Two sets of figures are given, one on the basis that all subjects who dropped out
were considered failures and the other on the basis that all subjects who dropped out
were successes. This indicates the maximum and minimum success rates and the range
of successful smoking cessation for this study.
It should be noted that all percentage abstinence figures presented subsequently, are
based on the assumption that dropouts from the programme were failures. Figure 1
